Last December 11, 2014 , the franchise between
Kubot and The Aswang Chronicles was formally inked with the
contract signing of Reality Entertainment, GMA Films and Agosto Dos.
Aside from being part of a franchise, Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles
also marks the comeback of GMA Films, being one of the film's co-producers with
Reality Entertainment and Agostos Dos.
KUBOT picks up where it ended in TIKTIK which was at the place called Pulupandan where the whole massacre happened. The protagonist leave the place thinking that all is well until they were ambushed on the way to Manila.
The sequel, which is KUBOT, happens two years after that
whole tragedy and is set in Manila. The film introduces a new character
of the aswang which is Kubot, giving the viewers another fresh take on local folklore.

Dingdong Dantes as the main character named "Macoy"
just wants peace, not realizing that the aswang clans have a brewing problem.
Macoy will be fighting Doms, the character played by KC Montero.
Dingdong Dantes is also one of the producers of Kubot The Aswang Chronicles.
Kubot is a clan of long haired female aswangs married to the Tiktik of Pulupandan
whose abilities are more limited to morphing its hair into a tentacle-like mass,
which they are using to squeeze their victim's innards out like a gel.
The main Kubot is played by Elizabeth Oropesa.
You will be seeing new additions in the cast including
Isabelle Daza as Lex, Lotlot De Leon as Nieves,
Bogart The Explorer as Macapagal, Jun Sabayton as Tope,

In an interview with Direk Erik Matti, the film director and co-writer of Kubot
stated that the special effects and action sequences were very challenging to shoot because
Kubot had a lot of scenes that were shot on location like mountain tops, quarry and Binondo.

A team of Chinese stuntmen and riggers were brought in for the scenes that entailed hanging, jumping and flying to appear more exciting. Dave Yu, who is in-charge of the special effects, added that in Kubot there's also such thing as digital prosthetics as the aswangs were real actors. The look of Elizabeth Oropesa, the main kubot was very challenging as its hair has to look real and dynamic.
"It was very evident that the men and women behind the film take pride in the strong story line of Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles." - Direk Erik Matti
